National BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin says all members would be made to fully understand the agreement to prevent attempts by any quarters to stir up dissatisfaction among the people in Sabah and Sarawak.
KUCHING, Nov 22, 2014: Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth will continue to uphold the Malaysia Agreement 1963 to ensure no irresponsible quarters manipulate the matter as an issue, especially in the coming Sarawak state election.
National BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin said all members would be made to fully understand the agreement to prevent attempts by any quarters to stir up dissatisfaction among the people in Sabah and Sarawak.
“We are committed to the agreement that was made for us to form Malaysia, that Malaysia was formed by the peninsula (Malaya), Sabah and Sarawak.
“Sabah and Sarawak did not join Malaysia,” he clarified at a news conference after attending the BN Youth Retreat here.
He said this matter was also contained in a resolution that was made in the programme, which would be submitted to the BN highest leadership soon.
“We (want to show that BN Youth) know (and understand the matter as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement) and we will uphold all agreements and understandings made under this Malaysia theme.”
Khairy said all youth members in the BN component parties who attended the programme also stated their commitment to fully oppose efforts by certain quarters, considered as pro-secession groups.
He said BN Youth also requested the federal government to amend regulations so that the category “Sabah/Sarawak Bumiputera” was entered in official forms to replace the choice “And Others”, based on the principle of enhancing further the unity among races in the country.
